History of the Harriman Building in Maddock, ND.​

The Harriman Building in Maddock, North Dakota, is a historic landmark dating back to 1905, built on Main Street and named for local businessman L.W. Harriman, who originally owned and operated it as a mercantile store.  Over the decades, it has served multiple purposes, including housing a clothing store, a co-op store, and later a hardware store.  

In 2009, a group of citizens formed the Maddock Opera House Association (MOHA) to restore and preserve this treasure.  The Harriman Building’s revival is seen as a symbol of Maddock’s resilience and community spirit, transforming a nearly forgotten structure into a vibrant center for local life.

It hosts performances, meetings, reunions, fine dining, and events, while retaining its historic character.  Harriman's Restaurant and Bobcat Bar is more than just a place to eat; it's a community hub where food lovers come together. Our menu features a variety of mouthwatering options, from gourmet burgers to fresh seafood, each prepared with the finest ingredients.
